Rhys Hoskins To Miss Thursdays Lineup

Rhys Hoskins to Miss Thursday’s Lineup

A Blow to Philadelphia’s Offense

The Philadelphia Phillies will face the New York Mets at Citi Field on Thursday evening and will have to do so without the services of their star first baseman, Rhys Hoskins.

Hoskins is dealing with right elbow soreness and will need to be reevaluated. He missed both games of the Phillies doubleheader with the Cardinals Wednesday and will apparently not be ready to return for this series against New York. The Phillies are hopeful that the injury is not a serious one and that Hoskins will be back in the lineup before long.

Hoskins has been a key part of the Phillies lineup this season, hitting .257 with an on-base percentage of .353 and a slugging percentage of .528. He has also recorded 26 home runs and 72 RBIs. In his absence, the Phillies will likely turn to Kody Clemens to man first base.

Clemens has been with the Phillies since the beginning of June and has played in 27 games, mostly at third base. He has a batting line of .286/.354/.429 with three home runs and 12 RBIs.

The Phillies will need Clemens to step up in Hoskins' absence. They are currently in third place in the National League East, 4.5 games out of first place. They will need all hands on deck if they want to make a run at the playoffs.
